TOO MUCH BLUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, I was half right. The baby killers took the House, and went ahead and took the Senate, too. It's absolutely mind bogling to me how a party can win and not submit a single idea or plan. The Democrats said nothing other than we hate Bush too, and they won. My fellow Americans made a huge mistake on Nov 7th, and we will all pay the price over the next 2 years.
That said, in the end what beat the Republicans was not the Democrats, it was themselves. The party of smaller government has been the polar opposite of that. Not securing our border? Offering amnesty? Those are not conservative principles. I am a conservative, first and foremost, and I will be first to admit the Republican party has acted like anything but conservative on many issues, Bush included. We lost, because as Mike Pence recently said, "We lost our way". Mr. Pence is very misplaced on immigration (supports amnesty), but he is still correct.
I can only hope our party learns the real lesson from this loss. We deserved to lose because we abandoned our principles. We are now the party of big government. The libs will do a fine job of quickly taking that title back though. I hope there are conservatives out there who will constantly remind the American people that the Dems may have elected several conservative dems into office, but it was only to gain a far leftist, extreme, socialist leadership. Any American out there who thinks pelosi and her gang want nothing more European styly socialism is beyond ignorant.
I am confident the Dems will spend 2 years shooting themselves in the foot and things will get back to normal in 08. My biggest concern is who will emerge to lead our party. We need a conservative leader in the mold of Reagan to lead us now. I don't see one except for Newt and I do not think he will run. If we don't have a real conservative going against Hillary, she will become president, and that will be the biggest nightmare of them all.
